The polls are open!

The polls are open for the 2025 Regional Representative elections! The regional reps will be in our meetings, voting on how we interact with Buhurt International, how we spend our budget, and how we can use our resources and expertise to best serve the armored combat community in the United States. They will also vote on whether we approve events to receive MC USA sponsorship or BI tournament status.

All support and competitors with up-to-date season passes should receive an email by the end of the day on January 3 with the poll for their regional representative. Polls will close by the end of the day on January 15.

See the full bios for each of the nominees below!

East

Michael Moore

I am writing to submit my self-nomination for the position of MCUSA Representative for the Eastern Area. With a strong passion for the sport, experience as a fighter, team captain, and my ongoing training to become a marshal. I am eager to contribute my skills and dedication to furthering our community’s goals.

As a fighter, I have an understanding of the sport and the practice that goes into preparing for competitions and local events. I have tried to develop a deep understanding of the strategies and techniques that define medieval combat.

My role as a team captain provided me with valuable leadership experience, including organizing training sessions, fostering teamwork, and ensuring a supportive environment for my team members. These experiences have taught me the importance of communication, collaboration, and adaptability—qualities I believe are essential for being a good representative.

Currently, I am training to become a certified marshal, which has broadened my perspective on the rules, safety measures, and fairness critical to our sport. This role has deepened my commitment to upholding the integrity of medieval combat and ensuring that all participants have a safe but also positive and rewarding experience.

I am confident that my experiences equip me to serve as a knowledgeable and dedicated representative for our region. I am passionate about promoting medieval combat, supporting fighters at all levels, and fostering a sense of community. As a representative, I would work diligently to address the needs of our members, advocate for our interests, and help grow our presence in the broader medieval combat community.

Thank you for considering my nomination. I would be honored to bring my experience and enthusiasm to this role!

Sandy Aufermann

I am eager to take a more active role in supporting the members of MC-USA. I believe the Eastern Regional Representative position for the US provides an excellent opportunity to do so.

Why vote for me?

Short version: I can read! (And yes, I can write, though it’s not my favorite thing.)

Longer version:

I have the time and commitment to participate in monthly meetings.

I’m approachable, responsive, and willing to listen to the needs and ideas of the community.

I’m passionate about helping the sport grow by promoting events and exhibitions.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve and make a difference!

Katie Bowman

My goal is to continue to advocate for more events in our region, grow our fighter base (especially the femme community), encourage the development of our existing fighter base, and maintain consistent, timely communications to answer questions you may have (or do the legwork to find the answers for you.)

Live long and Bonk.

Robert "Bobby D" Dionisio

Let's build a stronger, more united MC USA together!

I’m Bob Dionisio, known as BobbyD. Thank you for the nomination.

As a Regional Representative to the MAC USA Board, you can expect me to be outspoken for your interests, provide information both up to the board and down from the board to the Community and to try to provide a positive framework for the Eastern Region to Grow. I am a firm believer in Transparently and Honest Communication. My job is to make sure we have all the tools we need for successful clubs and building MAC USA Membership and engagement at all levels for fans, support and fighters. I’ll get out to events and groups as I can and will have a focus on growing the marshal and support communities alongside the fighters.

I’m a retired Airborne Infantry Lieutenant Colonel currently working as a Program Manager for the DOD in Norther NJ (and still have not seen any DRONES!!!) with over 35 years of Leadership and Management Experience at all levels. I have been a member of the Steel Fighting Community since the first 29 went to Poland and post recently was a Marshal and Competitor at the AMCF Quals in Conroe, Texas. I was a founding member of the American Medieval Combat Federation and have been on the AMCD BOD from Day One. I have been a National Team Rep for the United States and at the HMB Yearly meeting in Riga, Latvia. I have the title of having fought at the most worlds with the least medals!!! Most Recently I was the Acting/Deputy Captain for the 2023 Team USA in Prague as well as the Duels Captain and the 12x12 Team USA2 Captain. At Mexico in 2024 I was the Team USA XO running logistics and represented the Team at many of the Captain’s Meetings (I also earned a bronze fighting for Denmark in the 16x16 as a Viking!!!).

At any worlds I’m found pushing or assisting logistics making sure there is an Armorer Nearby, Fighter Seating, a Flag and Water.

I love our Community and everyone who is a part of it. APES STRONG TOGETHER!!!!

Zach Golden

I had a rough start to my armored fighting experience, lacking resources and any experienced people around for things like purchasing armor and seeking out training. I want to make sure that new and experienced fighters can avoid potential pitfalls.

I am honored and humbled to be nominated to be your newest West Coast regional representative for the MC USA board of directors! And since the other nominees chose not to run, I am happy to accept the position!

I have been a part of the community since 2022 and it’s been my passion ever since. I’m on a bit of an island over here in Portland, but I am confident that my background makes me a great candidate to represent the west coast! I played football at Menlo College while earning my degree in International Business Management with a minor in Marketing and have been in various managerial roles professionally. And I promise to do my part to ensure decisions are made with the community in mind and that said decisions are communicated with transparency. This is a sport and a community that I am so proud to be a part of and am excited to work with the rest of the board to represent all of you. I am grateful to those who have nominated me and vouched for me to the rest of the board. I look forward to making you proud! And to those of you that may not have as much faith in me, I look forward to proving you wrong! Either way, if you have any questions, comments, gripes or complaints, feel free to reach out to me via Facebook or come say hi in person!

Don’t forget, Buhurt is Love!
